A number of rules changes will be instituted in Major League Baseball during the 2026 season, but by far the most significant is the introduction of the Automated Ball-Strike Challenge System (ABS). The difference between what the MLB will use in 2026 versus what it had initially tested in the minor leagues in years prior is primarily the “challenge” part of the challenge system.
