After releasing its first major AI model in a year, Meta now has to figure out how to turn it into a business.
Meta's new Muse Spark AI model is now live on Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, bringing enhanced AI capabilities to billions of users. The frontier model also launches with a private API preview for select partners in April 2026.
On Wednesday, Meta Platforms unveiled Muse Spark, the first model from its newly formed Meta Superintelligence Labs, drawing bullish reactions from Wall Street analysts who believe the launch clears a key uncertainty overhang for the stock.
Meta reports that Muse Spark achieves its reasoning capabilities using over an order of magnitude less compute than Llama 4 Maverick, its previous mid-size flagship.
Meta states that Musk Spark is a key component of a larger revamp of its AI ecosystem, encompassing model development, infrastructure, and deployment processes.
The Muse series is set to be Meta’s second major foray into powerful AI, following its Llama models. Zuckerberg revamped the company’s AI program after the delayed and disappointing release of Llama 4 in 2025.
