The TSA says 6% of travelers still aren't using REAL ID-compliant documents at airports and warns they'll have to pay a new fee.
The new policy will help cover the cost of verifying the identity of travelers with insufficient ID, the TSA says.
February 1st, if you don't have a Real ID or an acceptable form of ID, you will have another option to go use TSA ConfirmID as an alternative way to verify your ID.
TSA PreCheck has added another benefit in the form of TSA PreCheck Touchless ID, which is now available at 28 airports and 68 checkpoints, with 5 airlines already participating.
The TSA will charge a $45 fee for travelers without a REAL ID to board domestic flights.
The Department of Homeland Security is considering updates to how it verifies identity and conducts security threat assessments for PreCheck applicants.
