Winter Storm Fern is forecast to bring heavy snow and ice across a large portion of the country through Monday, with airlines canceling flights and retailers rushing to keep shelves stocked.

As a massive winter storm moves across the United States, air travel has been severely disrupted nationwide, with thousands of flights delayed or canceled.

U.S. airlines have cancelled more than 12,000 flights scheduled to operate over the weekend as a major winter storm is set to hit many areas of the country with a mix of ice, snow, and frigid conditions.

Airports across the U.S. have canceled over 9,000 flights for the weekend as parts of the country brace for what’s expected to be a major winter storm, according to the flight-tracking website FlightAware on Saturday.

Delta said it is canceling flights at some airports in Texas, Oklahoma and other states because of the massive winter storm expected to blast much of the U.S.
