ICYMI: Chatham County's E911 Center transitioned to a new Computer Aided Dispatch system last Tuesday. Following the transition, we heard from some of our public safety-focused agencies around Chatham County, who highlighted how the new system benefits their departments. “Two huge components of safety for the police officers and first responders in general: more information, which is huge, and at the end of the day they’re getting it in real time,” said Garden City Police Chief Gilbert Ballard.

We want to assure our community that we are committed to maintaining public safety despite the current technical issue with our computer aided dispatch (CAD). While we’re temporarily operating on self-dispatch, all calls for service are being promptly responded to and tracked manually by our deputies and dispatchers. We always train and prepare to overcome any issues that arise, even if that means falling back to basics by using pen and paper. We are thrilled with the job our employees are doing
