Dated to be at least 1300 years old, this vase is attributed to the Moche culture of ancient Peru and was excavated at Trujillo. Made of pottery, it is mould-made and painted, featuring a human head modeled in the neck of the vessel. The head shows an expressive face, while the body is decorated with downward-pointing red triangles on a cream background and cream “S” motifs on red.
