Smew (Mergellus albellus) are a small species of diving duck native to Europe and Asia. Males have striking black and white plumage, while females are primarily grey and white with chestnut-red crests. Smew are closely related to the other mergansers in the waterfowl family, and share similar feeding strategies, in which they dive underwater to catch fish and aquatic invertebrates with their serrated bills. | Sylvan Heights Bird Park
