Reduction block printing is not the most playful art forms, if I’m honest. I have to be very careful I don’t carve out things I shouldn’t (which I do all the time - try to find the oopsies in my prints!) or my nick my fingers with the carving tool. For me, the creative play comes in with the way I’m carving (what tools I’m using to create texture) and where I’m carving to create the illusion of depth with color. This is linocut printing. A handmade printing process where one print is printed at a time. A sloooow process, but very satisfying. And this is my latest cat image, a cat, fitting the very best it can, in a box. 📦🐈‍⬛ This video was from yesterday’s printing session. I wanted to experiment with this image on some of the colored papers I have collected over the years, so I have a couple of blue prints, a few on a creamy tan, and more on a pale grey. I’ll share the finished prints once they dry.
